One thing most of us have in common is trying to make the best use of the space we have available to us in our vans. We want to have everything we need to make vanlife a comfortable and happy experience but also don’t want to be sat on top of a mountain of STUFF!
In this post we share 5 space saving hacks for small vans (OK read ALL vans!)
Folding Water Carriers
You can never have too much water but unless you have built in tanks water containers can be a big space stealer in the precious space you have inside your van. These folding water carriers come in two sizes, 5L and 10L and with one of each per pack they are excellent value for money. Constructed from food safe BPA-free material they feature a large screw cap closure and wide bottle lip for easy filling and pouring. Fold away when not in use to save space and they can even be rolled for easy storage too.
3-in-1 Collapsible Multifunction Kitchen Wash Bowl
This multifunctional piece of kit for your van kitchen can be used as a washing up bowl, fruit and veg washing basket and chopping board. It has a 7.1L capacity and features a built in removable drain hole and carry handle, which can be used to hang on a wall hook for easy storage when space is tight. It’s designed for the kitchen but we’re sure it’s just great as a human wash basin too. Space saving is space saving right?!
Stay Fresh and Clean with a Portable Shower
This lightweight and compact shower unit is supplied with a battery and charging cable that charges using any standard USB port, allowing up to 45 minutes of continuous use. The shower hose is a generous 1.8m in length and the showerhead is ergonomically designed with a non-slip handle for ease of use. This one is a no brainer for us. No more searching for gym changing rooms and public showers!
Get Out and Explore on Two Wheels with the ZOTTOM Folding Mini Bike
No bike rack needed! This lightweight mini folding bike is easy to fold in less than 20 seconds and super easy to store Sometimes you don’t want to drive but can’t go on foot? A foldable bike offers maximum freedom and requires minimum storage space. Get on your bike!
Last But Not Least… A Portable Toilet
Girl, when you’ve got to go, you’ve got to go! This is one of the most compact but still sturdy and well made portable toilets we have found. Weighing in at just 2.5kg it is easy to use, transportable and it’s small size makes it an excellent space saver in a small van. You can use chemical liquid in this toilet but we prefer to use compostable bags or a bag with a layer of cat litter for maximum absorption without any lingering odour. Does the job!
